Our Winery
At Kirrihill, we focus on cultivating premium grapes with respect for each vineyard block and estate. Our commitment to sustainable vineyard practices ensures the long-term health of our land and environment. From these grapes, we craft wines that reflect both quality and integrity. Using advanced winemaking facilities, we maintain consistency and reliability while allowing for minimal intervention. This approach enables the unique Clare Valley terroir to express itself in every bottle. Our red wines are unfined and vegan-friendly. Kirrihill is proudly certified Sustainable Winegrowing Australia since 2022, supported by the Australian Wine Research Institute.
Meet our Winemaker
Meet Amy Blackburn
Senior Winemaker | Innovator | Cool-Climate Wine Specialist
With more than two decades of hands-on experience across some of Australia’s most respected wine regions, Amy Blackburn brings deep technical expertise, creative vision, and an unwavering passion for premium cool-climate winemaking to the Kirrihill team.
Amy spent 18 years with Brand’s Laira in Coonawarra (2004–2022), progressing from the laboratory to winemaking, where she helped shape the style and quality of their renowned portfolio. She then joined Australian Vintage at Buronga Hill Winery (2022–2025), leading the company’s growing No- and Low-Alcohol wine program, a role that strengthened her innovative edge and expanded her skill set across emerging wine categories.
Her winemaking journey also includes international and domestic vintage experience, with formative seasons at Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley (2013) and Arkenstone Winery in Napa Valley (2015), broadening her understanding of terroir, technique, and regional expression.
Meet our Winemaker
Amy holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Adelaide, majoring in Organic Chemistry and Physical & Inorganic Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Wine Science from Charles Sturt University, where she graduated Dux of her class. She completed the AWRI Advanced Wine Assessment Course (AWAC) in 2018 and is a proud graduate of Wine Australia’s Future Leaders Program (2023 cohort).
Her favourite grape varieties, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon, reflect her passion for elegant, expressive cool-climate wines.
Outside the winery, Amy loves spending time with her family, camping, and travelling.
Driven by curiosity, craftsmanship, and innovation, Amy brings a unique blend of scientific precision and creative flair to every wine she makes.
